Când se vorbeşte de viata
cultică a unui creştin ortodox,
inevitabil apare in faţa no-
astră bogaţia vieţii liturgice,
cu slujbele si rugăciunile de
toată trebuinta. Oricare ar fi
slujba oficiată, o singură
rugăciune se repetă de ne-
numărate ori, iar noi îi dăm
prea puţină importanţă, fie
pentru scurtimea ei, fie
pentru faptul că nu-i cuno-
aştem pe deplin întelesul. E
vorba de răspunsul liturgic
„Doamne miluieste!”, cântat
de oameni în biserică credinci-
osii după fiecare ectenie rostită
de preot.
La o prima vedere, se
poate spune că atunci când
rostim „Doamne miluieste” im-
plorăm mila Atotputernicului
Dumnezeu, de care atârnă
viaţa noastră si care sustine in
armonie întreaga creatie. Mila
nu este altceva decât o formă a
dragostei arătată de Părintele
Ceresc faţă de „lucrul mainilor
Lui”, o rază din soarele orbitor
al iubirii divine care ne
ocroteşte si ne poartă de grijă.

T HE TIME OF OUR
BECOMING
In liturgical/church year,
the month of August is the
last month of the year. From a
spiritual perspective, the more
important feasts of this month
lead our thoughts to our mat-
uration in faith, in our rela-
tionship with Christ. Church is
the place where we get fed
with God the Word and - by
the Holy Sacraments – we ma-
ture in the experience of the
faith, as children and followers
of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Putting Prayer in
practice page 6
With such thoughts in mind, let us
pray that the day of August be for our
spiritual growth and a greater closeness
toward God. According to the practice of
the Church, at the beginning of this
month, we bring before God the first
fruit of the earth (grapes and fruits). By
this we become even more aware how
much we depend of Him who feeds the
entire creation by His gifts. Once
blessed by the church, we receive them
as blessing in which we perceive the
wonderful work God do for us.
In the Feast of the Transfiguration
of the Savior on the Mount Tabor the
faithful man lives again a new fulfill-
ment and maturation in faith.
In Church we keep learning how to
identify ourselves with Christ, to draw
near Him in spirit and truth, together
with the Holy Apostles Peter, John and
James in prayer and contemplation.
For us to arrive there, we need to re-
main in a personal relationship with
God and purify our life by fasting,
prayers and efforts, as an expression
of our faith.
In August we also experience the
heights of the faith in the feast of the
Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin
Mary. We learn in this, that from now
on, the ascension to heaven is also
granted to all those who believe in
Christ. Here is the reward and finality
of the faith! So the liturgical year will
end in August 31 and for us it means
a new becoming. With these spiritual
thoughts, I am calling all to come near
to the fire of the Holy Spirit who
works unceasingly in the Church and
cleanses the sins of all, sanctifying us,
by Grace to salvation.

T HE TIME OF OUR
BECOMING
Rugăciune la Icoana Maicii Domnului
Ceea ce eşti izvorul milei, învredniceşte-ne pe
noi milostivirii, Născătoare de Dumnezeu; caută
spre poporul cel păcătos; arată, precum de-a
(Matei 20,34)
Cerem cu insistenţă mila lui
Dumnezeu in primul rând pentru că avem
încredere in nemărginita Sa bunătate.
având nevoie in permanenţă de mila Lui
pentru curăţirea de păcate. Este un lucru
curios când auzim preotul cerând mulţime
de binefaceri de la Dumnezeu, iar noi
răspundem simplu si foarte scurt doar cu
„Doamne miluieste!”.
Impărăţia Tatălui Ceresc in mijlocul nos-
tru - În primul rând aceasta rugăciune cu-
prinde într-insa o recunoaştere a păcatelor
dacă o cerem pe aceasta Hristos a făgăduit
itorului, a cere mila lui Dumnezeu in-
in Imparatia Cerurilor: „Si va zice
Împăratul celor de-a dreapta Lui (adica
celor milostivi): Veniti, binecuvântaţii
Tatalui Meu si mosteniti imparatia cea
gatita voua de la zidirea lumii”.
In afara de binefaceri, trebuie sa
vedem aici si o obligatie din partea no-
(Matei 18,33)
Acum, când stim cât de mult folo-
seste scurta rugăciune „Doamne milui-
este”, ar trebui sa o rostim cât mai des;
sau putem rosti rugăciunea puţin mai
lungă derivată din aceasta “Doamne Iis-
use Hristose Fiul lui Dumnezeu milui-
eşte-mă pe mine păcătosul” Aceasta, ca
orişicare rugăciune trebuie rostită cu
mare băgare de seamă, pentru ca ros-
tită mecanic si neacordându-i im-
portanţa cuvenită nu va fi primită.

COMING EVENTS
The Holy Orthodox Church offers to us
many beautiful and time-relevant prayers
(morning and evening prayers, prayers
before and after meals) as well as prayers
for our parents, children, teachers, stu-
dents, prayers for beginning a difficult
task, prayer in times of illness, etc.
But St. Paul says “Pray without ceas-
ing” (I Thess. 5:17). So this summer, why
not make an effort to do exactly that.
Here are some suggestions to get you
started:
Whenever you hear and ambulance or
a police siren, pray for those in need of
help, as well as for the personnel on their
way to them.
Whenever someone tells you wonderful
news, thank God for the blessing.
Whenever you hear a bad news, say a
prayer for the person(s) in need.
When a friend, neighbor, or relative is
going through a difficult time, pray for
him or her.
When you receive a card, letter or e-
mail, pray for the person who sent it.
Now, see how many suggestions you or
your family can come up with!
Putting PRAYER in practice…
We would like to thank to:
Tudor Felea,
John Omorean,
Fiodor Didenco,
Nick Manciu
who helped us to clean,
strip, wash and
waxed the parish hall.

zanat românesti.
We are looking for your help and every member’s assistance is needed.
Please contact us if you can help during the weekend of September 9 & 10.
The Romanian Festival is our most important parish annual fundraiser. It is a Romanian-American cultural
event, intended to promote love and appreciation for our cultural and spiritual heritage.
This collective effort makes us aware that the parish is supported by everyone’s joint efforts. For this reason,
we ask you all to help us show our best! Without everyone’s support this cannot be done. One simple way to
assist us is to send a donation to help defray our costs. This way, the joy of a success will be everyone’s.
Thank you and May God Bless You!
Please sign up the Volunteers List (look for it at the parish hall).
Come and volunteer your time and help during the Festival !!!
Talk to your employer and ask them to be a sponsor.
