agencies and by social protection and insurance directions, pension

offices, school camps administrations, trade union organisations and

other institutions marketing tourism actions.

Data on international tourism are supplied by the Ministry of

Public Administration and Interior - General Inspectorate of Frontier

Police.

Chapter 8: Data are obtained from statistical questionnares filled in, by

persons aged 15 years old at least, who belong to a representative

household sample.

Capacitatea de cazare turistic\ • Prin structur\ de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\ se `n]elege orice construc]ie sau amenajare, care furnizeaz\ `n mod permanent sau sezonier serviciul de cazare [i alte servicii specifice pentru turi[ti. Nu se cuprind `n structurile de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\: structurile de primire folosite `n exclusivitate de posesori sau chiria[i, pe o durat\ mai mare de un an, indiferent de clasificarea acestora; locuin]ele secundare ale popula]iei, utilizate `n scopuri turistice `n mod exclusiv de posesorii acestora; c\minele, internatele [colare pe perioada anului [colar, unit\]ile spitalice[ti (cu excep]ia sanatoriilor [i altor spa]ii similare ce practic\ `n mod exclusiv activit\]i turistice); vagoanele dormitor; ad\posturile [i refugiile montane [i similare; bar\cile [i dormitoarele pentru muncitori, c\minele de b\trâni [i casele de copii. ~n num\rul structurilor de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\ sunt cuprinse structurile de primire turistic\ existente la 31 iulie din anul respectiv, fiind excluse cele a c\ror activitate a fost `ntrerupt\ pentru o perioad\ mai mare de timp, `n vederea realiz\rii unor repara]ii capitale sau pentru modific\ri importante ale capacit\]ii de cazare sau/[i a categoriei de `ncadrare.

• Capacitatea de cazare turistic\ existent\ (instalat\) reprezint\ num\rul de locuri de cazare de folosin]\ turistic\ `nscrise `n ultimul act de recep]ie, omologare sau clasificare al structurii de primire turistic\, exclusiv paturile suplimentare care se pot instala `n caz de necesitate. Num\rul de locuri a fost determinat pentru structurile existente la 31 iulie din anul respectiv.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTES

Tourists accommodation capacity • Establishment of tourists reception with functions of tourists accommodation means any construction or arrangement, which provides permanently or seasonally the accommodation and other specific services to the tourists. Establishments of tourists reception with functions of tourists accommodation do no include: establishments of accomodation used exclusively by owners or tenants, for over one year, irrespective of their classification; population secondary dwellings used for tourism purposes, exclusively by their owners; hostels and boarding schools during school year, hospital units (excepting sanatoria and other similar spaces which exclusively practice tourism activities); sleeping cars; mountain shelters and refuges and similar; workers huts and bedrooms, elderly people and children hostels. Number of establishments of tourists reception with functions of tourists accommodation includes establishments of tourists reception existing on July 31 of respective year, excluding those whose activity was interrupted for a longer period of time, in order to carry out capital repairs or for important changes of their accommodation capacity or/and category. • Existing (out up) tourists accommodation capacity represents the number of bed places used for tourists accommodation and registered in the last reception document, homologation or classification of tourists accommodation establishment, exclusively extra-beds which can be provided if necessary. The number of bed places was determined for the establishments existing on July 31 of respective year.

• Cercet\rile statistice cuprind structuri de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\ cu o capacitate de cazare instalat\ de cel pu]in 5 locuri-pat. • Capacitatea de cazare turistic\ `n func]iune (exprimat\ `n locuri-zile) reprezint\ num\rul de locuri de cazare puse la dispozi]ia turi[tilor de c\tre structurile de primire turistic\, ]inând cont de num\rul de zile cât acestea sunt deschise `n perioada considerat\. Se exclud locurile din camerele sau structurile `nchise temporar, din lips\ de turi[ti, pentru repara]ii capitale sau pentru alte motive. • Gruparea indicatorilor s-a efectuat dup\ forma de proprietate asupra capitalului social al unit\]ii [i anume:

- proprietate majoritar\ de stat care cuprinde capitalul integral de stat, public de interes na]ional [i local, mixt (unde statul de]ine peste 50% din capital);

- proprietate majoritar\ privat\, care cuprinde capitalul integral privat, mixt (peste 50% capital social privat), integral str\in, cooperatist [i ob[tesc.

Activitatea de cazare turistic\

• Num\rul turi[tilor caza]i `n structurile de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\ cuprinde toate persoanele (români [i str\ini) care c\l\toresc `n afara localit\]ilor `n care `[i au domiciliul stabil, pentru o perioad\ mai mic\ de 12 luni [i stau cel pu]in o noapte `ntr-o structur\ de primire turistic\ `n zone vizitate din ]ar\; motivul principal al c\l\toriei este altul decât acela de a desf\[ura o activitate remunerat\ `n locurile vizitate.


• Statistical surveys comprise establishments of tourists reception with tourists accommodation functions having at least 5 bed places as capacity of tourists accommodation. • Tourists accommodation capacity in function (expressed in places-days) represents the number of accommodation bed places put at the disposal of tourists by establishments of tourists reception, taking into account the number of days as long as they are opened in the respective period. There are excluded the bed places from the rooms or establishments temporarily closed, due to the lack of tourists, for capital repairs or for other reasons. • The indicators were grouped according to the ownership type on the social capital of the unit, as follows:

- state majority ownership, comprising state integral capital, public of national and local interest, mixed (over 50% state social capital);

- private majority ownership, comprising private integral capital, mixed (over 50% private social capital), foreign integral capital, co-operative and community capital.

Activity of tourists accommodation • Number of tourists accommodated in the establishments of tourists reception with function of tourists accommodation includes all persons (Romanians and foreigners) who travel outside localities where their stable domicile is situated, for less than 12 months and who stay at least one night into a establishment of tourists reception in the visited areas of that country; the main reason of the trip is different from carrying out a paid activity in the visited places.



• ~nnoptarea reprezint\ fiecare noapte pentru care o persoan\ este `nregistrat\ `ntr-o structur\ de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\, indiferent dac\ fizic este prezent\ sau nu `n camer\. • ~nregistrarea turistului str\in care este cazat `ntr-o structur\ de primire turistic\ cu func]iuni de cazare turistic\ se face dup\ ]ara sau zona geografic\ de re[edin]\ a acestuia.

• Indicii de utilizare net\ a capacit\]ii de cazare turistic\ `n func]iune se calculeaz\ prin raportarea num\rului de `nnopt\ri realizate, la capacitatea de cazare turistic\ `n func]iune, din perioada respectiv\.

Activitatea agen]iilor de turism

• Ac]iunea turistic\ este modalitatea specific\ de desf\[urare [i condi]iile asigurate de agentul economic organizator pe parcursul c\l\toriei turistului.

• Turi[tii participan]i la o ac]iune turistic\ sunt persoanele care beneficiaz\ de serviciile oferite [i vândute de agentul economic care organizeaz\ activitatea turistic\ respectiv\.

• Turi[tii-zile pentru o ac]iune turistic\ se determin\ prin `nmul]irea num\rului de turi[ti participan]i la ac]iunile turistice, cu durata efectiv\ `n zile a ac]iunii turistice respective.

Turismul interna]ional

• Vizitator interna]ional este, din punct de vedere statistic, orice persoan\ care c\l\tore[te c\tre o ]ar\, alta decât aceea `n care `[i are re[edin]a, pentru o perioad\ care s\ nu dep\[easc\ 12 luni, scopul principal al vizitei fiind altul decât exercitarea unei activit\]i remunerate `n ]ara vizitat\.


• Overnights represents each night for which one person is registered into a establishment of tourists reception with functions of tourists accommodation, no matter if this person is present or absent from the room. • Foreign tourist who is accommodated in a establishment of tourists reception with functions of tourists accommodation, has been registered by his residence country or geographical residence area. • Net use of bed places indices of the capacity of tourists accommodation in function are calculated as the ratio between the number of overnights and the capacity of tourists accommodation in function in the respective period. Travel agencies activity • Tourism action represents the specific way to carry out the travel of the tourist and the conditions provided by the organiser economic unit during this period. • Tourists participating in a tourism action are persons who benefit by the services rendered and sold by the economic unit organiser of the respective tourism activity.

• Tourists-days for a tourism action are determined by multiplying the number of tourists participating in tourism actions, with the actual duration in days of the respective tourism action. International tourism • International visitor is, from statistical viewpoint, any person who travels to one country, other than his residence country, for a period no longer than 12 months, the main purpose of his visit being another one than carrying out a paid activity in the visited country.

Cererea turistic\ a reziden]ilor `n România • Sfera de cuprindere a anchetei o constituie persoanele rezidente `n România, cu vârsta de cel pu]in 15 ani `mplini]i, din cadrul unui e[antion reprezentativ de gospod\rii. • Unitatea de observare [i `nregistrare statistic\ este gospod\ria, prin care se `n]elege un grup de dou\ sau mai multe persoane, care `n mod obi[nuit locuiesc `mpreun\, au `n general leg\turi de rudenie, se gospod\resc (fac menajul) `n comun, uneori lucreaz\ `mpreun\ `n gospod\rie, consum\ [i valorific\ `n comun produsele ob]inute, particip\ integral sau par]ial la formarea [i utilizarea bugetului de venituri [i cheltuieli al gospod\riei. • ~nregistrarea datelor a fost f\cut\ prin metoda interviului fa]\ `n fa]\, rolul principal revenind anchetatorilor, care s-au deplasat la domiciliul gospod\riilor ce au f\cut obiectul anchetei. • Perioada de referin]\ pentru `nregistrarea datelor este trimestrul. Date din Breviar prezint\ cumulat datele rezultate din anchetele trimestrelor I-IV 2004.


• Arrivals include the number of foreign visitors registered when entering the country. • Departures include the number of Romanian visitors who travel abroad and are registered when leaving the country. The same person from abroad can perform in the respective period several travels inside the country, being registered as a new arrival each time. Departures of Romanian visitors abroad are treated in the same way. • The following categories of travellers are excluded from arrivals and departures of international visitors: persons entering or leaving the country as migrants; diplomats, consular representatives and members of armed forces when going to/coming from the place where their mission will be carried out, into another country; refugees or nomads.

The tourists demand of residents in Romania • Survey coverage comprises residents in Romania, aged 15 years old at least, included in a representative household sample. • Statistical observation and registration unit is the household, comprising a group of two or more persons, who usually live together, are generally relatives, do and turn into account housekeeping together, sometimes work together in the household, use the obtained products, take part totally or partially to create and use the income and expenditure budget of the household. • Data registration was made based on a face-to-face intervieu, the surveyors playing the main role who visited the households being the subject of the concerned survey. • The reference period for data registration is quarterly. The data in the Romanian tourism in figures are cumulated based on the 2004 quarterly surveys.
