III Comment on three cultural symbols of the United States, e.g. the Statue of Liberty,

skyscrapers, Hollywood, the White House, etc.

The Statue of Liberty is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad. It is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City in the United States. The statue, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, in 1886 was a gift to the United States from the people of France. The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet.

A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building of over 40-50 floors, mostly designed for office, commercial and residential use. A skyscraper can also be called a high-rise and is a common building in the USA.

The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.
