    GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH(Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

    LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASJune 17, 2012

    THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

    PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH

Almighty God, Your Word has been cast into my heart and the Holy Spirit has created new life

within me. Just as You sustain me in my physical life continue to strengthen me through Word andSacrament in the life which has no end which You have freely given me through the forgiveness of mysins. Grant that I desire to share Your life-giving Word with others so that they too might know Yourgrace and mercy and have the blessed hope of everlasting life. In Jesus holy name I pray. Amen.

    WELCOME

Welcome to Grace! It is our prayer that you will be strengthened in Your faith by the power of

Gods Word which is living and active and accomplishes the purpose for which God sent it. The manyScripture Readings in the season of Pentecost teach us what it means to live as one who has beenredeemed and justified by the grace of God. That grace of God is sufficient for us as His power is made

perfect in weakness. If you are not a member of Grace and wish to learn more about our teachings asdrawn from Gods Word please speak with our Pastor. We are glad you are here and we invite you tocome and worship with us again.

We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return it toan Usher as the Offering is collected. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to comeforward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. A nursery for infants and toddlers islocated downstairs for anyone who has need.

    HOLY COMMUNION

Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 10:45 Service today. In this sacrament we receiveChrists very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace areasked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might be

established. Thank you for honoring this request.

    AS WE GATHER

Jesus teaches us that the mustard seed is the smallest of all the seeds on earth, yet when it issown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the

birds of the air can make nests in its shade. As we will learn from our other readings for this morning, this parable is really talking about how the Word of the Lord grows from humble origins. There is no

better example of how Gods Word is spread than in Christs own public ministry. As he beganpreaching and teaching His Word, in all of its Law and Gospel, Jesus became very popular! Divine
