    1. A) Read the text attentively and do the tasks:

The most terrible day in my life

As I was rushing off to school on Tuesday morning, the main thing on my mind was whether

my gym teacher would forgive me for no having ought my gym shorts. Three hours later, the

main !uestion on my mind was: Am I going to die"  I am a freshman at #tuvyesant high #chool, a few locs from the $orld Trade %enter. $hen

this horrile catastro&he egan, I was sitting in 'nglish class discussing a &oem. #uddenly the

    loud s&eaker came on and the assistant &rinci&al ex&lained that at (.* a.m., a &lane has crashed

into of the $orld Trade %enter uildings. At first, there was silence, then our teacher said: +$ow,

how do you follow that"+ y class laughed.

The next &eriod I had was a -free &eriod, so I went to the cafeteria. #ome kids were watching

the news, and I /oined them.

The lights in the uildings flickered, the T0 turned off, and we heard a loud ex&losion. $e

saw hundreds of &eo&le running away from my school.

I heard a second, extremely loud crash the scene was unimaginale. The $orld Trade

%enter uilding had colla&sed into itself, shooting a large lack cloud of smoke into the sky. Iwatched while odies feel from the windows, as the uilding came down in a giant &lume of

smoke. #ome classmates were crying and others comforting those in need.

Then someone yelled to look out the front window 2 and a sight met my eyes that &ut the first

thought in my mind that I might die. #moke was slowly moving down the street towards us

&eo&le ran screaming away from it. 'veryone in the school started yelling.

The loud s&eaker instructed us to leave the school in an orderly fashion and walk away from

the smoke. Another giant cloud of smoke was &ouring north around the other side of the

uilding. It was the smoke from the $orld Trade %enter, and we all started to run.

$hen I turned, I saw very disturing sight: smoke rising into the air, totally envelo&ing the

13 stories of the school uilding. 4ut to the west, the 5udson River, which we were walking

along, was covered with ash and &ieces of wood and deris.

I walked home, aout six miles from the school, and logged onto A46 to in!uire aout

family and friend. The saddest story was aout a classmate whose father had worked in one of

the uildings. $hen she got home, she heard a voicemail message that he had left right efore

the uilding colla&sed. 5er father was saying goodye ecause he knew he was going to die.

These have een the most terrile days in my life. I feel sad for the &eo&le who have died in

this horrific terrorist attack and also for the victims families.
