The architecture and the main current paths are maintained, minor changes being operated on the front door for an easy access to the circuit breaker commands. The existing safety and health management protocols for the management of heat stress in the case of mine rescue team members working in the collieries in Valea Jiului coal basin can be improved, considering that personal protective equipment requirements and statutory and societal attitudes towards health and safety have dramatically changed in the last two decades. Also, miniaturization of electronic components have provided the means to have much better measurement of environmental conditions and the heat stress on workers. This paper focuses on how such developments, when taken together, can provide both the need for a complete review of the safety and health management protocols for working in heat and the ability to come up with new solutions to many of the problems related to heat stress in the rescuers activity in Valea Jiului coal basin

General Inactivating Methods for The Elimination of Spontaneous Combustion, Applicable to The Mining Methods in Jiu Valley

Nitrogen is widely used in combating underground fires, first of all in France, Germany, Ukrain and India. Because of the inactivating properties of Nitrogen, this was used throughout the world mining history for the following purposes: elimination of explosion hazard, reduction of fire range and fire intensity, chilling fire workingsInactivating by means of Nitrogen was first applied among others in the following causes: longwall mining both advancing and retreating; fire outbreak in workings with circulating ventilation; fighting fires in workings with the auxiliary ventilation; reducing the fire range and eliminating the seat of fire.The paper presents two basic methods of inactivation for fighting underground fires occurring in workings sealed with sealing dams, applicable to the mining methods used in Jiu Valley.

A suitable assessment of the professional skills and a good selection of the personnel are being imposed by the evergreater rate of technical and scientific development, by the implementation of the newly emerged technologies as well by the special working conditions that exist in the Jiu Valley mines.This paper intends to present some of the results gained after the implementation of a modern method of mine rescuers selection and the manner of organization of rescue teams during active operations performed in case of accidents occurred in underground.The studies were carried out in the month of January on a mine rescue team that is currently employed at the Central Mine Rescue Station - SALVAMIN in Petrosani, considered as a touchstone in the field of mine rescue teams that operate in the Jiu Valley.

In nowadays coal exploitation conditions from Jiu Valley coal undergrounds taking into account the safety requests for adequate support and for assuring the stability for coal face due to extending the coal fields necessary to be uncover and undermined to coal bed method impose to forecast the manifestation and estimation intensity mode of mining pressure system is considered more important for knowing the actual situation and to apply the imposed measurements.The evaluation system which is presented in the paper suppose the pressure from hydraulic pillars using individual timber monitoring from undermined coal bed is necessary for estimate the exploitation safety.
