Observație:

O altă verificare care se face este înlocuirea valorilor obținute pentru  și   înecuația meridianelor. 

 Această ecuație este de forma:

(√ 2 · ) = 1 

 Această ecuație arată că meridianele sunt elipse cu o semiaxă constantă șicealaltă semiaxă variabilă, care depinde de longitudinea .

Când = ° elipsa se transformă în cerc, iar când = ° elipsa se transformă înlinie dreaptă.
