called Kenya: Twendapi? (Kenya: Where are we going?) criticizing the government and signed “Wasiotosheka” (discontented), the Kenyatta government imprisoned him for three years in solitary confinement. While in prison in terrible conditions, he wrote poems called Sauti ya Dhiki (Voice of Agony), later published by Oxford University Press.
