Activity 1 Warmer Aims : - to break the ice -to elicit Christmas symbols Procedure: - T writes some Christmas collocations on the blackboard . - T. asks the class if they can guess the connection . - T puts them into pairs and gives them one minute to see how many collocations they can find .The winners are the pair with the highest number of correct collocations. - Ss write collocations on cards and then they are asked to write them on the blackboard. - Timing 4ʼ Activity 2 Christmas symbols Aims : -to teach vocabulary related to Christmas -to develop speaking skills Procedure : T. writes a Christmas word web on the blackboard.

Activity 1 Warmer

Aims : - to break the ice-to elicit Christmas symbols

Procedure: - T writes some Christmas collocations on the blackboard .- T. asks the class if they can guess the connection .- T puts them into pairs and gives them one minute to see how many

- Ss complete the world web - T asks questions about the real meaning of Christmas , where was Jesus

Christ born etc and other questions related to religious knowledge .- Ss answer the teacherʼs questions Interaction : T-SsTiming : 5ʼ

Activity 3 ʼHow do people in other countries celebrate Christmas ? ʼAims: -to develop reading skills - To research the customs and traditions from other countries- To write a report - present the report to the class

Procedure : T. divides the class into four groups , each group will search the traditions from a continent : Europe, Asia, North America and South America .

- Ss have to present the power point presentations about how Christmas is celebrated in other countries .

- SS sing well known Christmas carols to indroduce informations on some of the cultural contributions that different countries have made to the Christmas holiday

- Ss locate each country on the map Interaction : GW, T-Ss, Ss- Ss Timing 20ʼ

Activity 4 ʼ Merry Christmas!ʼ around the world Aims: -to discover how Merry Christmas is said in other language -to research the different ʼfacesʼ of Santa Claus T. hangs up a world map in the center of the bulletin board. - Ss write on a card : Merry Christmas in different languages . - Ss stick their card on the map Interaction : Individual –work Timing : 5ʼ

Activity 5 ʼChristmas around the world ʼquizAims: -to check up the SS understanding of how other cultures celebrate Christmas

- To assess Ssʼ reading comprehensionProcedure: - T divides the class into four groups .

T. tells Ss that will be a competition between groups . Every group will receive some comprehension questions from their presentations.

The group with the most correct answers wins the competition.Ss work in groups and solve the quiz.

Interaction : GWTiming: 7ʼActivity 6 Christmas caroling Aims: - to learn and perform carols Procedure: T. asks Ss to sing some carols : ʼ Deck the halls ʼ, ʼ Joy to the world ʼ, ʼ We three kings ʼ etc.Interaction : Whole class , Individual Timing : 9ʼ
