    on the SUPRAREX system, therefore

    to integrate and intera ct to get her. The

    design of the main beam and the cut-

    ting carriage allows for a parking area

    outs ide the w orking a rea . This s ave s

    space and maximises the cutting area.

    The integra tion o f the m ac hine d rives

    and side ca rriag es in a central position

    not only optimises the machine perfor-

    manc e it minimises the ma chine dead

    length w hich a ga in sa ves valuable

    space .

    Serviceability of the machine is a very

    important aspect of the design and all

    machine components have been made

    read ily ac ces sible for ease of mainte-

    nanc e. The use of sta nda rdised com-

    personnel can be highly trained with

    without the need for large s tock hold-

    The portal beams are des igned and

    All power and supply cab les and

    hoses are introduc ed to the ma chine

    process parameters such as g as

    The ma chines a re provided w ith

    servo controlled 3 axis rack and pinion

    drives w hich de liver this optimum

    All plasma torches are integrated with

    a unique ESAB collision protection

    system which is used to protect the

    torch from mechanical damage and is

    also used as a fas t convenient way to

    change torch co nsumables.

    Tactile positioning device

    For setting the height the tactile posi-

    tioning d evice is a go od help.

    If the sensing foot is in horizontal posi-

    tion, the plasma torch has the proper

    distanc e to the wo rkpiece.

    At the s ame time the plasma torch

    is ignited by the NCE control.

    Use of the ESAB plas ma systems

    ensure that we can deliver fully

    The q uality of the plas ma proces s is

    greatly influenced by the torch to wo rk

    piece height. ESAB CU TTING S YS-

    TEMS ha ve de velope d a range of ini-

    tial and cutting height controls which

    gua rantee the optimum performanc e

    for eac h plas ma s ystem used.

    The high pe rforma nce of the

    SU P RAREX mac hine a nd height

    sens ing sys tem enab les precision

    plasma to be supplied that ca n

    ac hieve cutting p erformance which

    ca n be c ompared to the q uality

    achievable from laser cutting.

    ESAB can provide plasma systems

    which ca n be used with dry fume

    extraction tables or alternatively, with

    w at er ta bles. An interesting develop-

    ment with water tables is the water

    injection plasma cutting under or

    abo ve wa ter.

    The S UP RAREX ma chine ca n be

    equipped with up to 12 oxy-fuel torch-

    es. The machine ca n be used w ith

    oxygen a nd a variety of fuel ga ses

    which include propane, a cetylene,

    natural gas and other commercially

    ava ilab le fuel ga ses .

    The C oolJ et torch used with the

    SUP RAREX uses a patented sys tem

    that feeds heating oxygen gas into the

    cutting stream for keeping the cutting

    nozz le coo l w hile preheat ing. This

    gives a much long er nozzle lifetime

    and reduce s flas hba ck. The Co olJet

    torch can be used with a large number

    of nozzle types to g ive high s peed c ut-

    ting with precision.

    An ad aption of the Co olJet to rch w ith

    interna l ignition is the ES AB MultiJ et.

    This to rch p rotects the ignition s ys tem

    from the dirt and heat therefore

    ensuring consistent ignition and

    performance.

    All the gas cutting equipment and

    torches a re subject to the highest

    q uality co ntrol and conform to the

    applica ble s tandards and statutory

    sa fety regulations . Torches a re fitted

    with flas hba ck arrestors a nd non

    return valves to ensure machine

    and operator protection.

    The S UP RAREX oxy -fuel gas normally
