Fireplaces are a popular feature in multi-story condominiums and apart-ments, but they usually require individual chimneys, which can impactspace allocation and increase costs. The MFES solution allows a singleventing system to accommodate multiple fireplaces, eliminating the space

constraint and keeping construction budgets manageable.

In addition to a superior design, the MFES includes EXHAUSTOs highquality components that feature unique functionality and the constructionnecessary to stand the test of time.

RSVThe RSV is a mechanical draft fan that is installed at thechimney termination point, either vertically or with side-wall venting. It is designed to ensure a negative pressurein the entire chimney or stack system.

ADMThe ADM is a motorized damper controlled by an actuatorwith adjustable stroke length. This is allows the damper toclose complete and open to less than a 90 degree positionfor balancing purposes.

VFDThis variable frequency drive is designed specifically tocontrol and adjust the speed of EXHAUSTO fans. Its pre-programmed for its specific application, but also allows

for adjusting of settings through the keypad.

EBC 30The EBC 30 monitors and maintains a constant draft orpressure by varying the speed of the fans. Its used whereconstant pressure is needed in the exhaust duct for on-demand control.

XTPThe XTP monitors the draft pressure at the applianceoutlet while the control box receives a signal from theXTP, which is used to increase or decrease the fan speed.

The Isokern B-Vent (IBV) is the only fieldassembled, modular masonry, gas only, top-vented appliance in the market today. It can beinstalled directly on a combustible floor systemwhile meeting ANSI Z21.50 guidelines.

The ADF control damper is actuatedby the fireplace controller. When thefireplace is turned on the damper opensto its pre-set open position. As thefireplace is turned off the damper staysopen for a short period of time.

The fireplace controller monitorsthe fireplace and is connected to

the gas valve. Once adequate draftis available the damper and the gasvalve open. A thermal disc monitorsfireplace spillage which will case thegas valve to close.

The MFES System a Unique Concept

The MFES is unique in that it monitors the operation ofmultiple fireplaces in multistory buildings. Individual fireplacescan be started or stopped by just turning a switch on or off.A safety system is an integrated part of the MFES, which

makes it even safer than individual fireplace installations.The functionality of each component is described below.

The EBC 30 control moni-tors the draft via a pressuretransducer located at thebottom of the common vent.It varies the speed of the fanso it modulates with number

of fireplaces in operation.

project is unique and our three-step process allows us todesign a complete system that meets the specific require-ments of a given job.

1. Pre-sales analysis. This phase allows us to gatherrequirements and create a customized sizing report.

2. System design. Using our FanCalc software,our engineers design a system that takes intoconsideration proper vent type application,operating temperatures, pressure losses andthe risk of condensation. It also provides specificwiring diagrams.

3. Engineering and installation support. Everysystem comes complete with job-specific AutoCADinstallation instructions and wiring diagrams. Ourengineering support teams have access to these filesand are available to answer any questions that comeup during installation.

The FanCalc DifferenceOne of the many things that set us apart is ourproprietary design software, FanCalc. FanCalc allowsour engineers to quickly and accurately design a venting

system because it contains extensive equipment data, suchas operating and exhaust requirements, exhaust tempera-tures, efficiency, ducts with k-values, resistance factors,insulation factors and more. Instead of spending days orweeks analyzing data, our engineers can enterthe information into FanCalc and receive a report thatprovides the appropriate sizing information, code violationwarnings and even design alternatives.
