E a p l ă t e ş t e c u s u f e r i n ţ ă s i î n f r i g u r a r e , d a r u l p e c a r e i-1 a d u c i c a s ' o i n o b i l e z i ţ i s ' o î n a l ţ i .

O r e s t e a d a t t i n e r e ţ e i t o t s u f l e t u l s ă u p l i n d e p o e z i e . Ş i t i n e r e ţ e a , — n e î n ţ e l e ­g ă t o a r e d e t e z a u r u l p r i m i t — a f ă c u t d i n el j o c u l e i c a p r i c i o s , î n t o c m a i c a ş i c o p i ­l u l r ă s f ă ţ a t c a r e p e t r e c e p e s o c o t e a l a l u ­c r u r i l o r d e p r e ţ ce i s ' a u d ă r u i t . . .

U n p r i e t e n b u n a l poetului , el ini p o e t , c a r e i n a c e a v r e m e se găsea ni u i t a t - e a s a p e f r o n t , ş i c a r e a fost in n o ş t i i n ţ a t d e m o a r t e a fratelui silf f l e t e s c — c ă c i f r a t e sufletesc s'a • p e n t r u O r e s t e — a t r i m i s ziarului ii n i m e n t u l " d i n I a ş i , următoarele • r â n d u r i , c a r i a u a p ă r u t în ziua dt| F e b r u a r i e 1918 :

T r e c e a p i i n v i a ţ ă înso ţ i t de-o lira li m e c a t ă d i n c a r e r i s i p e a mărgăritei l a c r i m i p a r f u m a t e .

MORMINTE PARASITÉ Unul din cei m a i f r u m o ş i p o e ţ i t i n e r i ,

semănând la c h i p c u f e ţ i f r u m o ş i i d i n cântec, s'a s t i n s î n p r e a j m a v â r s t e i l a tare alţii ab i a î n c e p s ă s c r i e . I n u r m a l u i au rămas c â t e v a c ă r ţ i u i t a t e ş i u n m o r ­mânt p ă r ă s i n i t p e c a r e i a r n a c r i v ă ţ u l Iroeneşte, p r i m ă v a r a c r e ş t e i a r b a s ă l b a ­tecă, vara se u s u c ă — p r e g ă t i n d p a r a g i ­na pentru î n c ă u n a n o t i m p . A ş a d e z e c e ori a început s ă se a ş t e a r n ă v e ş n i c i a .

Mâini pioase c a r e s ă r i d i c e c r u c e p e n ­tru copilul poet n u m a i s u n t ş i e z a d a r ­nic să mai g â n d i m s ă c e r e m a c e a s t ă ..bună cuv i in ţă" . Şi totuşi, s u n t a t â t d e z a d a r n i c e t o a t e rinstiril» cu c a r e n o i p u t e m p o m e n i ş i comemora în d e p ă r t a r e a d i n t r e n o i — rti de toate zilele — a u n u i p o e t a d e v ă ­rat, care se s t r e c u r a s e t i m i d ş i t ă c u t î n viaţă, cu figură de f a t ă , c u o c h i d e s e n i n , cu ftizie în p i ep t şi p l e t e c a r e î i m â n -riiiiu fruntea ; a u n u i a m o r e z a t r o m a n ­tic intre s a m s a r i i c a f e n e l e l o r , a u n u i v i ­

itor de N i r v a n a p e o „ T e r a s ă " c a r e d a • strada infectă, a u n u i e n t u z i a s t c u j braţele deschise s p r e t o t r e e f r u m o s ş i

absurd. Şi pure a t â t de f i r e a s c ă p e n t r u l u m e a

;i vremea n o a s t r ă u i t a r e a !... A l t e g e n e ­raţii au s t r ă b ă t u t s g o m o t o s c â m p u l l i t e -rilor româneşti, c â m p c a r e M u ş i c u p r i n ­d e - î n î n g u s t i m e a l u i — ş i l o c u l s t e r p il mormântului f ă r ă c r u c e , î n c a r e d o t r lie, uilat, copilul p o e t .

Suntem s igur i c ă , î n u r m a r â n d u r i l o r , noastre, nu se v a u r n i — s p r e d e s m i n ţ i r e

De ziua o n o m a s t i c ă a m o ş i e r u l u i C r i s -lea. printre a l ţ i m u s a f i r i d e l à o r a ş , e r a aşteptat şi u n p r o f e s o r d e l à u n i v e r s i t a t e a din Bucureşti.

Profesorul n ' a v e n i t s i n g u r , d u p ă c u m se vestise, i a r cei d e g a z d ă s e m i r a r ă mult cand v ă z u r ă c ă d i n a u t o m o b i l u l trimis la s t a ţ i a f e r a t ă , î n t r u î n t â m p i n a ­rea invitatului, se c o b o r î ş i u n t â i n ă r n e ­cunoscut.

Cum la ţ a r ă se g ă s e ş t e î n d a t ă l o c d e s ­tul şi pentru cei n e p o f t i ţ i , s o s i r e a n e c u ­noscutului nu s t i n g h e r i p e n i m e n i .

Renovând, după un criteriu perso* metrul clasic (în care, credem că a l cele mai frumoase poezii din acest» luni) d-sa de multe ori se pierde în di« gaţi i formale. Chiar şi în acele încercă! de scuturare contemporană, poetul H gan păstrează, aceiaşi notă de discreţi poetică, care constitue una d::m caria risticile volumului de faţă.
