Be thoughtful, be silent, and be reverent, for this is the House of God. Before the service, speak to the Lord; during the service,

let the Lord speak to you; after the service, speak to one another.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in Your consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen. Readers: 7:00 am Sandra Johnson 9:30 am Prayer Group Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Isaiah 51:1-6.

Listen to Me, you that pursue righteousness, you that seek the Lord. Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug.

2 Look to Abraham your father and to Sarah who

bore you; for he was but one when I called him, but I blessed him and made him many.

3 For the Lord will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her

waste places, and will make her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song.

4 Listen to Me, My people, and give heed to Me, My nation; for a

teaching will go out from Me, and My justice for a light to the peoples. 5 I

will bring near My deliverance swiftly, My salvation has gone out and My arms will rule the peoples; the coastlands wait for Me, and for My arm they hope.

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth

beneath; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and those who live on it will die like gnats; but My salvation will be for ever, and My deliverance will never be ended.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God. HYMN - 7:00 AM …………………………………. “We Gather Together”- 389 CPWI

PSALM – 9:30 AM …………………………...………………………………… 138 - BCP p653 SECOND LESSON

Readers: 7:00 am Sharon Clarke 9:30 am Prayer Group Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Romans 11:33-36. 33

O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and how inscrutable His ways!

34

“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counsellor?”

35 “Or who has given a gift to Him, to receive a gift in

return?” 36

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory for ever. Amen.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

GRADUAL HYMN …………. “Praise My Soul The King Of Heaven” - 383 CPWI + THE GOSPEL + Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to

Matthew 16:13-20. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

13

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

14 And

they said, “Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you

say that I Am?” 16

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon

son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in heaven.

18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will

build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

20 Then He sternly ordered the disciples not to tell

anyone that He was the Messiah.

Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise to Christ our Lord.

THE GATES OF HADES WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT! THE SERMON ……………………….. THE REV’D S. SEBASTIAN CAMPBELL POST-SERMON HYMN ………………..……... “JESUS IS ALL THE WORLD TO ME”

Jesus is all the world to me, my life, my joy, my all; He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall. When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so; When I am sad, He makes me glad, He’s my Friend.

Page 3: 08 21 AUG 2011 - Pentecost10

Jesus is all the world to me, my Friend in trials sore; I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them over and o’er. He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest’s golden grain; Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He’s my Friend. Jesus is all the world to me, and true to Him I’ll be; O how could I this Friend deny, when He’s so true to me? Following Him I know I’m right, He watches o’er me day and night; Following Him by day and night, He’s my Friend. Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better Friend; I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when life’s fleeting days shall end. Beautiful life with such a Friend, beautiful life that has no end; Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my Friend.

RECESSIONAL HYMN – 9:30 AM ………………………………….. “LIVING BY FAITH” I care not today what the morrow may bring, If shadow or sunshine or rain. The Lord, I know, ruleth o'er everything. And all of my worry is vain.

Living by faith in Jesus above, Trusting, confiding in His great love; From all harm safe in His sheltering arm, I’m living by faith and feel no alarm.

Tho' tempests may blow and the storm clouds arise; Obscuring the brightness of life. I'm never alarmed at the overcast skies, The Master looks on at the strife. I know that He safely will carry me thro' No matter what evils betied; Why should I then care, tho' the tempest may blow, If Jesus walks close to my side. Our lord will return to this earth some sweet day, Our troubles will then all be o'er, The Master so gently will lead us away, Beyond that blest heavenly shore.

PRAYER AFTER MASS (SERVERS PRAYER):

Glory to You Lord Jesus, glory to You. Grant that as I have served in Your presence, may we also come to serve in Your heavenly kingdom. In all things God be glorified. Amen.

Priest: The Mass is ended. Go in peace rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

People: Thanks be to God. Amen!!!

Stop Stress-Speak Do you realize how often you program yourself for stress by the words or phrases you use to describe simple activities that do not necessarily need to be done quickly? I want you to become sensitive to your stress-oriented vocabulary. I hope you will find alternate ways of describing your actions so that you are not snared into a stress-mode by the words of your mouth. Consider the examples below:

Stress-oriented: “I have to run to the store.” Alternative: “I’m going to the store.”

Stress-oriented: “Let’s grab a bite to eat.” Alternative: “Let’s have lunch.”

Stress-oriented: “I’m going to jump in the shower.” Alternative: “I’m going to take a shower.”

Stress-oriented: “I’m going to throw the clothes in the dryer.” Alternative: “I’m going to put the clothes in the dryer.”

Stress-oriented: “I’ll swoop by and pick up Jane for the party.” Alternative: “I’ll pick up Jane for the party.”

Stress-oriented: “I’ll be back in a flash.” Alternative: “I’ll be back shortly.”

Stress-oriented: “I’ll hurry over before the game starts.” Alternative: “I’ll be over before the game starts.”

Stress-oriented: “I’m going to zip through this part of the report.” Alternative: “I’m going to cover this section briefly.”

All of these stress-oriented phrases imply a sense of urgency that sends a message to your body to get the adrenaline pumping.

Even if we do not initiate the rush vocabulary, we are still surrounded with rush messages from all forms of the media. There is a popular television commercial that exhorts customers to “Run, don’t walk!” to their upcoming sale.

You may have other phrases, in addition to the ones above, that you are in the habit of using. On your road to stressing less, why not become conscious of how you describe your activities? Catch yourself in action and start reprogramming your vocabulary.

Further, I will challenge you try to stop using the word “stress” or “stressed out” when describing your situation. Since stress affects your mind and your body, why send an unnecessary alarm to them? If you have many pressures that are being brought to bear upon you, rather than saying “I’m stressed out,” try saying “I am working through several projects and personal issues right now. I know that the Holy Spirit is going to help me to get through them all.”

If you faced with deadlines and other pressures, stay solution oriented. Most importantly, ask God for His intervention.

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” - Proverbs 3:6 NKJV
