On one hand, my home town and my college town have several things in common. First, my home town, Negara, has a multicultural society. Almost 35 % areas of the town are occupied by outsiders (foreigners and people from other islands of Indonesia). Located nearby sea, most of the local people work as sailors. Negara also contains a popular university, STITNA University , at which the students learn about technology and computer science. As for my college town, Singaraja, it also has a multicultural society since there are so many foreigners live in it. Like Negara, people of Singaraja, who live surround the sea, mostly work as sailors. In a ddition, Singaraja is similar to Negara in that it also has a famous university, called Undiksha University. This university is well known for its English Education Department. On the other hand, my home town and my college town are quite different in several ways. For example, the physical size of each town is different. Negara is large, having an area of 84.100 square miles. However, Singaraja is only about a third the size, having an area of 27.800 square miles. Another difference is in the size of the population of each town. Negara has about a hundred thousand people living in it, but Singaraja has about twenty hundred less than Negara. The two towns are also different in the kinds of public services provided by each government. For instance, the students of any public school s in Negara do not have to pay for any school fee, whereas public school students in Singaraja have to pay for the fee on every semester. All in all, both Negara and Singaraja have several characteristics that give them similarities and differences.
