Fondul este destinat sustinerii proiectelor/ actiunilor menite sa implementeze solutii in problema degradarii serviciilor ecosistemelor, sa creasca nivelul de cunostinte privind contributia acestora la economie precum si sa contribuie la stoparea pierderii biodiversitatii in Romania. Obiectivul include abordarea problemelor legate de pierderea si fragmentarea habitatelor, de restaurarea zonelor degradate, precum si integrarea aspectelor legate de biodiversitate in politicile sectoriale. Astfel, proiectele/actiunile finantate trebuie sa faciliteze schimbul si transferul de cunostinte, experiente, tehnologie, bune practici intre entitati similare din Romania si statele donatoare si sa vizeze dezvoltarea relatiilor bilaterale intre
