"Să ai șansa să pleci cu Erasmus și totuși să nu o faci este ca și cum ai refuza să mergi

la dentist, deși te doare îngrozitor măseaua. Cel mai probabil îți este frică. Și mie mi-a fost,

recunosc. Dar cum puteam să refuz 2000 de euro care m-ar fi ajutat să-mi îndeplinesc un vis

vechi? Oare tu ai spune nu celor 5 luni în Paris și unui card de student cu sigla Sorbonei?! Mă

îndoiesc. Șansa de a locui la 20 de minute de catedrala Notre-Dame, de a studia în amfiteatre

vechi de sute de ani și de a te urca într-un autocar plin de alte 27 de naționalități nu te poate lăsa

indiferent. Cum ar fi să vii acasă și să le povestești cu mândrie prietenilor tăi cum ai reușit să

înțelegi mersul celor 14 linii de metrou sau mai bine, să le descrii cât de delicioasă este de fapt

brânza mucegăită? Poate când te întorci acasă colegii tăi vor rămâne șocați să audă că ai rezistat

la seminarii de 3 ore și că nota maximă de 20 este imposibil de atins. Oare vei regreta că ți-ai

deschis orizonturile după ce vei fi văzut calul împăiat al lui Napoleon Bonaparte sau vei fi

urmărit Fedra de Racine în cel mai vechi teatru din Paris? Nimic nu este mai tentant decât să intri

într-o ciocolaterie, să-ți petreci o zi întreagă la Disneyland sau să te bucuri de o petrecere-

croazieră pe Sena. Cu alte cuvinte, nimic nu este mai tentant în perioada studenției ca Erasmus.

Da, te vei mai simți singur din când în când. Poate nu te vei descurca așa de bine cu limba țării.

Poate te vei ascunde sub un teanc imens de acte sau pur și simplu colegii străini sunt mai reci

decât te-ai fi așteptat. Poate...De ce nu mergi să vezi cum e cu ochii tăi? Du-te și creează-ți

amintiri și nu uita că cea mai mare spaimă o provoacă regretul!"

Extras din interviul dat de Andra pentru Serviciul de Cariere al ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute: Choose one word to describe your study experience at IBS Growth.

Why did you choose IBS? For hundreds of reasons. The international environment, the focus on teamwork in group projects, the less formal relationship between students and professors, the close link the university has with the business world and the high recognition of the Human Resources Management Master. The web page and other testimonials convinced me quickly that ISCTE-IUL was going to be my first university choice. To all these, I would add that the prospect of living in Lisbon, in the old and beautiful residence of the university, gave me no choice than considering ISCTE-IUL. What would you say to people who might be considering studying at IBS? Be prepared to get infected with a good dose of ISCTE spirit. At least, I know I did. Students here are putting lots of questions in class and schedule tutorials with the professors. They feel proud of their university but don't lose sight of the fact that there's room for improvement in many areas. Among the Business School students I noticed an entrepreneurial attitude and this is what makes a university alive. In short, expect to have associations who look for your well-being and entertainment, professors who inspire you to chase a challenging career and many hours in the study room with your teammates discussing some project that concerns a real company. It's fun and exciting, but sometimes hard and stressful. Anyways, this is the only way once can grow. Tell us about the best memory you made at ISCTE-IUL I remember a speech I had in front of my classmates. The professor was working on our presentation skills and he put each one of us to tell about one decision that we are proud of because it had a great impact on our life. I was telling them about how I found out that the partnership between the IBS and my home university expired. It was during the interview for the Erasmus scholarship. What I decided to do then - and it had a tremendous impact on me - was to try to convince both universities to renew it. During my speech I realized how grateful I was to be there. According to you, which is the major difference between the education systems of Portugal and your home country? I noticed that the Portuguese universities have a close relationship with companies, or at least IBS has. This is almost inexistent in my country unfortunately. Also, we have grades only from 1 to 10 and we get the 10 pretty often, but here to get a 20 is something unheard of. You also seem to put a lot of emphazis on group work, while in my country we are more individualistic, which again is not aligned with the job market needs. If given the opportunity, what element would you take from a Portuguese university and implement in the universities of your home country? I would definitely create a Career Services Department in each university and implement the group project work in the curriculum of each faculty. And of course I would introduce 'Praxe', just because we have no university tradition to integrate the freshmen and it's a shame. However, what I would like to change is morover the mindset of students and professors. Romanian universities need less formal relationships between students and professors and definitely more engagement from students' part. Similar to ISCTE-IUL, they should allow students to do an

unpaid internship in some of the departments of the university and let them get involved and gain working experience. What do you like the most about Portugal and Portuguese culture? I like its people. They are very friendly, warm-hearted and modest. I was really surprised about that. People here made me feel so welcomed and whenever someone tells me that they have a good friend who is Romanian too or that Portuguese is really similar to Romanian language, I become so happy. Which is your favorite thing about Lisbon? The sky at sunset.
