Audience: Young travelers and amiliesObjective:Entice people to visit San Francisco
Process:Tis was a really un project or me. It was something I loved to think
about and work on. I started by picking a subject. I decided on doing atravel brochure or one o my avorite cities, San Francisco. Ten ollowingextensive research to find the best activities or my target audience, I movedonto layout design. Originally I intended to do a triold brochure, but ear-ly on discovered that I did not have enough space to do what I wanted withthis project. So I transitioned into this booklet style. I used several mock-upsand worked through several designs on paper beore moving into the digitalworld. Once I was satisfied with the layout and content, I used Photoshop to
create the cover and alter the colors on one o the pictures, and Illustrator tocreate the logo. I spent a majority o my time in InDesign organizing and fi-nalizing the layout. I struggled with the printing aspect o the project, I set upcamp in the print shop and printed it several times beore I was happy withthe outcome.

An inspirational montage made by the blending of two o
more images, and the use of typography.
Audience: LDS amilies, or anyone who needs a reminder o who and where they canlook to or peace.Message: It is through Christ that we can find a remission o our sins.
Process:Te base o this project is one o my avorite scriptures which is 2 Nephi25:26. It is about how we do all things in Christ because it is through Him that wecan find a remission or our sins and ultimately true joy in this lie and the lie tocome. I wanted a picture that depicts Christs love or us. I thought o Greg Olsenand I looked at a lot o his artwork but was unsure about the copyright protocol orthat. Ten I went on LDS.org and looked through their ree images o Christ and
came across the one I used or the background photo. I loved how close he sat to thechild and gave the little boy his ull attention and I thought it was perect. Ten Iound this picture o His hands and I opened them both in Photoshop Elements 12.I edited the base image and then used the lasso and eather tools to pull the handsonto the base image. Afer I applied the mask and adjusted it how I liked it, I addedthe text or the scripture.

Audience:Families (primarily parents) or Young travelersObjective:Visit San Francisco
Process:Because I was doing the San Francisco travel brochure, I thought itwould be appropriate to recreate and incorporate the Golden Gate into thelogo. I ound a picture o the bridge on google, and I broke it down into basicshapes on a piece o paper. In Illustrator, I used the shape builder tool and thepen tool to build the bridge. I went through a couple o stages where I playedwith the outer shape o the logo and finally decided that the circle went bestwith the flow o the brochure. I had a lot o rectangles going on, so the occa-sional circles broke that up a little bit.
op Ting Learned: I learned a lot about color schemes rom this project.Originally it was in a red and white box but then I thought that the contrastwould be stronger with a navy background.Between the dark background and the bright ring around it, the logo catchesthe viewers eye.itle Font Name & Category: Perpetua itling (Modern)

Process: Tis project was the first time id ever created a logo and so it was verylong process and rustrating or me as I struggled through Illustrator. But be-
cause o the struggle I eel so much more confident in my abilities in theprogram it really kickstarted my discovery o the program.
I began by doing lots o sketches. I started with a much more complicatedversion o this logo, and then decided that it didnt eel like me. So I simplifiedthe design and I ound that when I did that, the message and the symbolism othe record came through clearer.

Passion Project
Audience:Businesses that need to employ a marketing firmMessage:Creative, young, and succesul marketing firm.
Process:Tis is a logo I started creating to work on my skills in Illustrator.
For this passion project I made a list o characteristics you need to haveto be successul at marketing. I thought o creativity, flexibility, relevance,imaginative, and innovative. Despite the cliche, I thought that a lightbulbprojected that message the best. So accompanied with modern ont choicesand bright colors, I think the message is projected effectively. Doing this inIllustrator was definitely a learning experience or me.

Passion Project
Audience:Portuguese people, or those that like Portuguese goods.Message:Company that ships high quality Portuguese goods.
Process: For a long time my Dad has talked about opening up an online storethat would sell handmade Portuguese goods. He got really serious about itover 4th o July weekend and roped me into helping with some aspects ocompany branding. We started rom the bottom and we did somesegmentation to ocus on our audience. Afer deciding on a company name(Postmarked Portugal) I knew pretty immediately that I wanted to pull rompostage stamps or inspiration. I didnt have to do a lot o sketching beore Icame up with a design that I thought well represented this company we weretrying to build. In Illustrator I constructed the rooster, but once that wascompleted I created the stamped waves and I wanted them to look rayed andimperect the way a stamp does and most o that action happened inPhotoshop.

Audience:Families (primarily parents)Message:Have a un day and donate to a good cause
Process: Because we werent given any base inormation, thats where Ibegan my creative process. I came up with an event that I personally would
want to attend or a cause im actually passionate about. I decided on acook-off and a basket auction at a lake or Autism awareness. From there Irecognized that my audience was going to be primarily amilies. HoweverI tailored the flier more to parents, because they are the ones who wouldmost likely initiate the idea o having a amily day picnicking at the lake.So I picked a more mature sandwich as the poster ood or the event, and Ithought the auction would also incentivize parental attendance. Iestablished a hierarchy with the text and worked to draw specific attention
to the act that the event was going to raise money or Autism. Tis flier wascreated entirely in Microsof Word.

Audience:College students, people with special needsMessage: Te goals o the event were to raise awareness o the special needscommunity that we have on campus, to provide a un and social activity orthose with special needs, and to raise awareness o the Special Needs ServiceActivities committee on campus and the other weekly activities we put on orthe kids to be able to learn, grow, and succeed together in a un environment.
Process: I started out by identiying my audience as being college students.We tried to organize this event to be something that would be enjoyable orboth volunteers and people with special needs. I then wrote out all theinormation that I needed to put on the ads and gave them a hierarchy oimportance. Afer that I decided on a colour scheme, and went with highlysaturated versions o the team colors we picked. Ten I went into Illustratorto make the mustaches then brought it all into InDesign. I sketched or a longtime and when I ound a design I was excited about, I put it together inInDesign.
* I was in charge o all the marketing efforts or this event. I came up with theposter design, managed the acebook pages, made the registration websiteand ound a local sponsor who was willing to donate prizes or the winningteam. Te event brought in over 150 participants.

Process: I started by picking Cinepolis to be the company. I thought aboutwhat they are known or and thats where I got the idea or the logo o thewaiter holding the projector on a tray. I started off with a lot o sketches,trying to figure out the exact orientation o the waiter. When I was satisfiedwith it, I moved into Illustrator. In the program I used basic shapes and theShape Builder tool to subtract shapes as well. I wanted to use classic movietheater colors, red and black. Te elements that I repeated on the businesscard are the onts, the colors, and the lines.

Audience:Neighbors and close amily riends o my client.
Process: I began by speaking to my client and seeing some tag designs thatshe picked out, identiying elements that she liked on each. Ten I sketchedout an overall layout design. Afer that, I designed the snowflakes and theornaments then created them in Illustrator. When I was happy with thevector graphics, I brought it all into InDesign where I sized the tags andexperimented with onts. Te ont choice was something that my client wasvery particular about so I made a couple o different options and she selectedthis more minimalist design. From there I experimented with a ew differentpaper options and picked a glossy cardstock.
