    MONTAGE

Instructor: Ben PingelCourse: Communications 130 Section 8Date :12/10/14 Adobe Photoshop

Description: A montage conveying a spiritual message by blending different images together.

Objectives:Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message.Learn to blend two or more images together gradually. Demonstrate more advanced Photoshskills for layout with multiple elements. Apply typography principles and select quality images.

I first planned out what my message was going to be and the images that I wanted to use. Ifound the two images on the Internet and I first used the larger image of the Earth and lake

as the background. I cropped the image to 1 1x 8.5 inch and I decided to use the Gaussian bltool to blur out the earth. In another Photoshop document I pulled up the image of Jesus andcropped it to 11 x 8.5 inch. I used the lasso tool and set it to 100 pixels to create a featheredeffect. I then dragged the image to the document of the earth image. I then used the hue andsaturation tool increase the saturation of the image, focusing on the face. I also used the smasharpen tool to sharpen his face. I then used the brush tool and faded the head wrap a little athe white background that surrounded the body of Jesus. For the title Supreme I used the effeoverlay and applied an outer glow and a drop shadow with an orange color background. For title creator I used the filter effect of overlay and then added a drop shadow as well as an outglow to make it stand out more. For my body copy I made a few key words larger. For the woGod I decided to use an overlay effect with a drop shadow that had a black color shadow .

    BROCHURE

Instructor: Ben PingelCourse: Communications 130 Section 8Date :12/10/14

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Description:Design a two sided (duplex) brochure with a personally designed logo for a company.

Objectives:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original, new logo and use it in abrochure. Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not includ-ing the logo. Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headersand sub headers. Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.

    Process:

I used InDesign to set up my template for my brochure to create a two fold brochure.I started off with my design on my template and decided that I wanted it to have triangleson them that werent all the same size. I used triangles to create the shapes that filled eachpage. I wanted my color scheme to be pulled from the colors I used in my logo. I embed-ded my images on my template. For my body copy I used paragraph styles to make sure it was line space paragraph style and I did the same with my headings. For my text wrappedimage I used Photoshop. I used the lasso tool to only select the parts I wanted and adjustedthe edges to make it look smoother. I saved the image and placed it on my template.

I created my logo in Illustrator and I used the free draw pencil tool. I drew the image of theelephant all by using the pencil took without tracing an image. I varied the thickness ofthe lines on the elephants face. I used the eye dropper tool to get the whole image to be a white color. I then added my text and placed it close to the elephants face. I then used therectangle tool to make the a background and border that would make the image and textstand out. After I finished my logo I saved it and opened it up to place it in my InDesigndocument.

I useda cannon camera to take the picture of the soccer ball outside and I tried to focus on thesoccer ball to make it stand out. I then inserted the image into a Photoshop documentthat was 8.5 x 11 where I was able to change the images saturation and levels. I want-ed the soccer ball to be a red color and the nike sign to match with the green grass soI used the selection tool to change the hue of the soccer ball. I then used the rectangle

    EVENT AD

    Instructor: BenCourse: Communications 130 Section 8Date :12/10/14

    Programs Used:Microsoft Word

Description:Create a web page for a company with a logo that was personally created.

Objectives:Comprehend image sizing. Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleeddesign. Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, includingPhotoshop.

Process:I first scanned the 4 x 6 image that I printed out and changed the resolution accordingto the dimensions. I uploaded that file to Word and I cropped a portion of the picture soI can use most of the left side of the picture instead of the whole thing. I changed thecolor of the image to a sepia color. I then added a few rectangles with the rectangle tooland I made it so that it would be a border for the words of the title and body copy. I usedthe reorder tool so that the top rectangle would be on top of the image and the bottomone would be behind the image. I used the text box tool to arrange how close the words would be to each other for leading. I also separated the rectangles so that there would be

more negative space. I wanted the title to be closer towards the top so that the dogs eyes would lead the viewer to the image to create flow.

Process:I have never used Illustrator before so I was able to learn a lot from this project. I firstplanned out my designs by first choosing a company. From there I drew a lot of differentsketches that would work well with the company. I used the shape tool , pen tool, and thedirect selection tool to design the dog images. I manipulated the shapes to turn them intoa dog shape. I had to decide on the fonts that I wanted to use and I tried to vary the sizesof the fonts in each of my logos. I then choose my color scheme by using the color wheeland used the eye dropper tool to select the color straight from the color wheel. It wasdifficult at times to get the desired shape you envision but after a while you know how tomanipulate the shape.
