What is gROw?gROw is a long-term non-formal education program

addressed to the high school students in Romania from 9th to 12th grade. It is run by School of Values (Şcoala de Valori), the non-governmental organization and AIESEC, the biggest student worldwide organization.

The program is designed for the teenagers from 13 Romanian cities (Arad, Braşov, Bucureşti, Cluj, Constanţa, Iaşi, Lugoj, Oradea, Piteşti, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu-Mureş, Timişoara) and created as a four-year educational cycle. The main purpose of the program is to give the students a chance to develop certain skills such as project management or communication skills and to take part in an international experience.

The following features make gROw a unique educa-tion program:

International perspective – the trainings are deliv-ered by international students and are held in English.

Nationwide program – it is run all over RomaniaProfessional session design – the curriculum (set

and content of the sessions) is created by psycholo-gists, sociologists and professional trainers

Long-term approach – gROw is not a summer camp or a weekend training seminar, but a 4-year educational program

Expertise – the members of School of Values and AIESEC Romania have decades of experience in the development and implementation of educational pro-grams for university and high school students from all over Romania.

Ce este gROw?gROw este un program de lungă durată, non-

formal şi este adresat elevilor de liceu din România, din clasele a 9-a, până într-a 12-a. Acest proiect este coordonat de către organizaţia non-guvernamentală Şcoala de Valori, împreună cu AIESEC, cea mai mare organizaţie de studenţi din lume.

Programul este proiectat pentru adolescenţii din 13 oraşe din România (rad, Braşov, Bucureşti, Cluj, Constanţa, Iaşi, Lugoj, Oradea, Piteşti, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu-Mureş, Timişoara) şi a fost creat ca un ciclu de educaţie de patru ani. Scopul principal al programului este acela de a da elevilor de liceu o şansă de a-şi dezvolta anumite abilităţi cum ar fi cele de gestionare a unui proiect, abilităţi de comunicare şi să ia parte la o experienţă internaţională.

Următoarele caracteristici fac gROw un program unic de educaţie:

Perspective internaţionale - trainingurile sunt livrate de studenţi internaţionali şi sunt ţinute în limba engleză.

Program naţional - se desfăşoară în toată România.Sesiuni profesionist proiectate - curricula

(conţinutul şi desfăşurarea sesiunilor) este creată de către psihologi, sociologi şi de traineri profesionişti.

Abordare pe termen lung - gROw nu este o tabără de vară sau un seminar de training de un weekend, este un program educaţional ce se desfăşoară pe durata a 4 ani.

Experienţă - membrii Şcolii de Valori şi AIESEC România au decenii de experienţă în dezvoltarea de programe educaţionale pentru elevi şi studenţi din toată România.

AIESEC este o organizaţie pentru tineri unde aceştia pot să-şi descopere şi să-şi dezvolte abilităţ ile pentru a avea un impact pozitiv în societate.

Prezentă în peste 1500 de centre universitare din peste 110 ţări, organizaţia noastră oferă sprijin organizaţiilor (companii, instituţii şi ONG-uri) şi tinerilor să se dezvolte prin intermediul programului eXchange - Schimb Internaţional de Tineri.

AIESEC is a youth organization where young people can discover and develop their potential in order to have a positive impact in society.

Present in over 1500 univeristy centres in over 110 countries, the organiza t ion of fe rs i t s support to other organizations (companies, institutions a n d NGOs) and to young people who want to develop themselves through the eXchange Program.

Unfolding

This summer, the gROw project took place for students who completed 10th grade, 11th respectively. In this edition of the project have applied over 100 students from high schools in Piteşti and Curtea de Argeş.

Preparation of this edition of the project was provided by four international trainers: Jaskaran Singh Virk from India, Borowik Natalia from Poland, Elenka Krupova from Ukraine and Colin Lam from Hong Kong. They have held sessions in which they presented their country and culture, team-building sessions, sessions that focused on teamwork, communication sessions to improve time management, sessions to improve presentation skills and public speaking and sessions on entrepreneurship.

Also, during this edition, the students that participated at the project have had activities with the trainers, like night-outs, movie nights, walks in the park, activities that were intended to help them interact better with each other.

To end this edition, students who participanted were divided into 20 groups, each group had to represent a country at the closing even World Wide Week-end Nation.

Desfăşurare

În vara aceasta, proiectul gROw s-a desfăşurat pentru elevii care au terminat clasele a 10-a, respectiv a 11-a. La această ediţie a proiectului au aplicat peste 100 de elevi din liceele din Piteşti şi Curtea de Argeş.

Pregătirea din cadrul acestei ediţii a proiectului a fost asigurată de 4 traineri internaţionali: Jaskaran Singh Virk din India, Natalia Borowik din Polonia, Elenka Krupova din Ucraina şi Colin Lam din Hong Kong. Aceştia au ţinut sesiuni în care şi-au prezentat ţara fiecăruia, sesiuni de team-building, sesiuni în care s-a pus accent pe lucrul în echipă şi comunicare, sesiuni pentru îmbunătăţirea gestionării timpului, sesiuni de îmbunătăţire a competenţelor de prezentare şi de vorbit în public şi sesiuni despre antreprenoriat.

De asemenea, pe parcursul acestei ediţii, elevii care au participat la proiect au avut parte şi de activităţi împreună cu trainerii, cum ar fi: ieşiri în oraş, „seri de film”, plimbări în parc, acestea având rolul de a-i apropia pe participanţi între ei.

Pentru încheierea acestei ediţii, elevii participanţi au fost împărţiţi în 20 grupe, fiecare grupă trebuind să reprezinte o ţară la evenimentul de închidere World Wide Week-end Nation.

Şcoala de Valori este o organizaţie non-guvernamentală modernă a cărei viziune este dezvoltarea prin educaţie inovativă a unei societăţi bazate pe valori. Ca organizaţie, Şcoala de Valori pune sub semnul întrebării graniţele educaţiei tradiţionale pentru a pune la dispoziţia indivizilor informaţii valoroase, experienţe de formare a caracterului, interacţiune cu modele pozitive şi expunere internaţională.

The School of Values is a modern non-governmental organization whose vision is the development through an innovative education of a value-based society. As an organization, the School of Values questions the boundaries of the traditional education in order to provide individuals valuable information, experiences that help forming one’s character, interaction with positive models and international exposure.

World Wide Weekend Nation event

At the end of the project gROw 1.1 & 1.2 there was organized an event called the World Wide Weekend Nation at the Jupiter City shopping center.

The entire event was moderated by Cristina Pană and Bogdan Badea, former members of AIESEC Piteşti and took place on 7 August 2011.

World Wide Weekend Nation began with small speeches from the organizing committee of the project, international trainers, participants and partners. Then came the ceremony of granting diplomas to the participants, trainers, partners and organizers, and continued by viewing a movie about how this edition of the gROw project in Piteşti took place from the beginning till the end of it.

Evenimentul World Wide Weekend Nation

Cu ocazia închiderii proiectului gROw 1.1 & 1.2 s-a organizat evenimentul numit World Wide Weekend Nation la centrul comercial Jupiter City.

Întreg evenimentul a fost moderat de Cristina Pană şi Bogdan Badea, foşti membri AIESEC Piteşti şi a avut loc în data de 7 august 2011.

World Wide Weekend Nation a debutat cu mici discursuri din partea comitetului de organizare a proiectului, a formatorilor internaţionali, a participanţilor şi a partenerilor noştri. Au urmat apoi ceremonia de acordare a diplomelor către participanţi, formatori, parteneri şi organizatori, şi vizionarea unui film despre cum s-a desfăşurat ediţia aceasta a proiectului gROw în Piteşti încă de la început şi până în final.

The event continued with the contest itself, where 70 students from high schools in Piteşti and Curtea de Argeş represente, in teams, one country with traditional clothing, objects and dishes, but also with impressive artistic moments and specific to the country they represented.

22 countries were represented, along with countries of origin of the international facilitators of AIESEC Piteşti and from other locals, specially invited at this event.

At the World Wide Weekend Nation event took part, besides students, international students and parents, the participant’s teachers to see exactly how their teenagers implement what they learned and how they involve their soul, mind and body in what they had done. There were offered four prizes: First place, II, III and popularity prize of a contest organized by Jupiter City on the social network Facebook. The winners received cups, medals, shirts and caps, in addition receiving a prize seven-day trip to the sea and the popularity contest winners each received an MP3 Player.

Evenimentul a continuat cu desfăşurarea concursului propriu-zis unde 70 de elevi de la licee din Pitesti şi Curtea de Argeş au reprezentat, pe echipe, câte o ţară cu îmbrăcăminte tradiţională, obiecte şi mâncăruri specifice, dar şi cu momente artistice impresionante şi specifice ţărilor pe care le reprezentau.

Au fost reprezentate 22 de ţări, alături de ţările de provenienţă ale facilitatorilor internaţionali din localul AIESEC Piteşti, dar şi din alte locale, invitaţi special cu ocazia acestui eveniment.

La World Wide Weekend Nation au luat parte, pe lângă studenţi, elevi, internaţionali, părinţi şi profesori ai elevilor participanţi, pentru a vedea exact modul în care adolescenţii îşi pun în practică ceea ce au învăţat şi modul în care aceştia implică sufletul lor, mintea şi trupul în ceea ce aveau de făcut. Au fost oferite 4 premii: Locul I, II, III şi premiul de popularitate al unui concurs pe reteaua de socializare Facebook organizat de Jupiter City. Câştigătorii au primit cupe, medalii, tricouri şi sepci, în plus premiul I primind o excursie de 7 zile la mare, iar câştigătorii premiului de popularitate au primit fiecare câte un MP3 Player.
