    Pentru prescurtarea propoziiei subordonate, partea de propoziie scris accentuat se nlocuiete cu participiul -ing:Entering the room, I saw him at the table.Intrnd n camera l-am vzut la mas.

    n exemplele de mai sus ai observat, desigur, c att propoziia subordonat, n care apare forma de participiu prezententering, ct ipropoziia principal care conine verbulsaw, au acelai subiect, pronumele I.Participiul prezent se traduce n limba romn prin gerunziu. Iat cteva exemple n care am utilizat participiul prezent:

    n leciile anterioare am studiat imperativul la persoana a 11-a singular i plural.

    La celelalte persoane, att la singular ct i la plural, pentru formarea imperativului se folosete verbullet [letj- a permite, a ngdui, a lsa.

    De exemplu:Let me read it! Let them invite us! Let her take the car! Let us finish it now!- Las-m s o citesc!
