I am a classical Indian (Odissi), dancer, choreographer and dance educator. Ihave been giving performances,teaching, conducting workshops and lecture demonstrations widely inIndia, United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Italy and France .I amalso a Post graduate in Sociology and have done some research papers on thesubject. I also practiced dance movement therapy. Curriculum Vitae

Career Objective : Even in her childhood the young Srinwanti had a penchant for dancing and she was

inducted into the Odissi Dance form at the tender age of five. Srinwanti has been pursuing the

Gharana of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra for last 20 years. Srinwanti finds life in the rhythm ofOdissi and she has dedicated herself to the arduous practice of this classical genre. Rhythm of her

dance becomes vibration of her life and it has become possible for her dedication and determination.

Srinwanti has proved her excellence and earned reputation as a dance performer , innovativechoreographer and dance educator both in India and abroad. Presently she is pursuing DanceTherapy to extend dance for therapeutic services. She has also shown her mettle in research works inthe paper which she has written called Hindu TempleWomen(Devdasi) _The Divine Prostitution.Srinwanti is the founder andartistic director ofSRIJATI a centre for art and culture whichhas been successfully operating in Kolkata since 2000. Srijati as a dance troupe under the able

guidance of Srinwanti has widely performed throughout India and their works have been highly

acclaimed. Srinwanti has also a strong academic career . A convent educated student , Srinwanti has

completed her graduation in Sociology from the Presidency college Kolkata and herPost graduationin the same subject from the University of Calcutta . At present she is preparing for her PHD studies.

She has performed in several prestigious festivals and events in India .

Teaching Experience :

She gives training in Odissi dance since 2000 in different institutions in Kolkata .She has also

conducted several dance workshops and demonstrations both nationally and internationally. Besides

this, she is the founder and artistic director of the institute SRIJATI a centre for art and culture

where she conducts regular dance classes and gives training in odissi dance and movements in its four

branches. She has conducted several dance workshops , regular dance classes and lecture

demonstrations throughout England in 2006, 2007 and 2008 in different educational schools ,

colleges, arts centres , dance schoolsand institutes.

Abroad Tours:

1. She has given performances in U.S.A. to mention a few BANGA MELA at Chicago, etc.

Toronto,etc.2005.

3. Since 2006 Srinwanti stays in England for few months and works there as a performer ,

choreographer, dance teacher and lecture demonstrator . She has given many dance recitals,conducted

several dance workshops and given many lecture demonstrations in many cities of ENGLAND in2006.

4. In 2007 she has also given many dance recitals, conducted dance workshops, lecture

demonstrations, presented new choreographic compositions throughout UNITED KINGDOM . In

this England Tour Srinwanti presented her new choreographic composition called THE CHASE

based on odissi , chhau and contemporary movements at CAF CHOREOGRAPHIQUE a

choreographers conference at Eastleigh organized by Hampshire Dance. Her work was highly

appreciated there. She worked as the choreographer ,lead performer and co- director of the

production called AASTARAN _ THE LAYERS which was commissioned by Anvil Arts.

5. Srinwanti again worked for few months in England in 2008 teaching dance , performing ,

choreographing , giving lecture demonstrations and touring with new dance works and presenting the

works to different arts centres of England.

This year she created the choreographic production MEGHDOOT which gained huge

appreciation .

Some of her prestigious performances in this year were at Havant Arts centre , Westend Arts

Centre ,Bridgwater Arts centre , Everest Community College , Multicultural Fair , Brockenhurst

College , Vyne Performing Arts Centre , Diwali at Square where she had performed with her

students from United Kingdom in front of thirty thousand audience at Trafalgar Square.

Choreographic Works :

Srinwantis choreographic dance pieces which have been appreciated highly are Mangalam ,

Govinda Bolo , Mudra , Khel, Ta Dhin , Durgastuti , Krishnastotra, Ecstasy , Omkar Namah and

Raghupati .

In England the choreographic productions she has worked on are Aastaran the layers, TheChase and Meghdoot.

Back home the choreographic production which has given Srinwanti much critical appreciation is

Ahan the dawn. Srinwantis other successful choreographic productions are Abhihitabased on

emotions of human life, Cadence her new experimental work in which Srinwanti searches for her

own dance vocabulary and Black November - a creative work blending dance, theatre and live

arts. Her recent work is Barsaat for which she received much appreciation.
