Work Experience

Structure From Silence August 2015 – PresentI also run my own small music website and record label called Love Is Noise. It focuses on emerging underground

electronic and urban music. I feature up-and-coming local artists to well known established acts. Is has new music,

videos, mixes sections and a guest mix series. The label releases music and fanzines from some of my favourite up-and-

coming producers from around Scotland. The releases have featured in online stores such as iTunes, Bleep, Beatport,

Boomkat and Juno. I also run various social media channels for the blog / label, including Twitter (also TweetDeck),

YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, Instagram and Bandcamp.

EmuBands February 2014 – June 2014For the past few months I have been working for the online music distribution company EmuBands. The company

distributes music to online stores such as iTunes etc. My role involves making sure clients account requests are taken

care of, such as, registering tracks for UK and US music charts and registering track info on Gracenote. I also update and

maintain databases; making sure released tracks are live on the various online stores and help with general day to day

tasks.

Soma Records April 2014 – May 2014Soma Records is record label based in Glasgow, which focuses on electronic music. I have been working on a voluntary

basis, helping with various administration tasks for the label. My tasks have included sorting and filing the labels

catalogue of music and releases, sorting, stock taking and the sending out of merchandise. I also register tracks with

PRS for music, PPL and Gracenote. I assist with the writing and delivery of promotional material such as press releases

and also with takedown notices for illegal filesharing websites who are infringing on the label’s copyright.

Rubadub Distribution April 2014 – June 2014As part of my work experience module in 3rd year at university I spent a few weeks working at Rubadub Distribution, a

music distributor specialising in electronic vinyl records. My duties included sorting, cataloging and packing records

and music equipment for delivery, writing promotional mail outs and press releases on Mail Chimp for labels and music

retailers, uploading content & tracks to the distribution database and online stores and also assisted assigning ISRC and

throughout the summer.

Stow College / Electric Honey August 2011 – May 2013While at college we studied various aspects of the music industry and business such as; music history, law, business

management, e-commerce, marketing, promotion, distribution, finance and running a record label. We also helped run

the college record label Electric Honey, helping with the A&R process, promotion, marketing and distribution of

releases on the label. This included me contacting press, media and blogs when promoting the release and also gave me

a great insight to the process of making, promoting and distributing a release physically and online.

InterestsMusic is my real passion, I love listening to music, going to gigs, reading and writing about music. I also have a passion

for digital media, art and film. I enjoy going to the cinema or having a ‘classic movie night’ at home. I enjoy reading and

love new technology and social media. It’s a great way to discover new things, promoting yourself and brands. I also

love football, watching and playing, and I try to play 7-a-sides whenever I can.

ProfileI like to think I am a keen, reliable and hard working person. I love to create and learn new skills, knowledge and

concepts. My past experience has allowed me to be able to manage my time effectively, confidently communicate with

all levels of management and voicing a contrary opinion or idea if the situation requires it. I have worked effectively

and efficiently alone or as part of a team and I am comfortable and have experience working to deadlines and targets in

tense environment. I also see myself as someone who can think outside the box to overcome problems, but is not afraid

to seek help if I need it.
