Everyone involved in development is aware of the

problem: first, theres a vision. Then comes the

challenging task of turning it into a mature

product. But how will the market respond when

    the job has been completed?

In our case, the Jakob INOX LINE will be good for

many a surprise. It will take some time for the

industry to digest the pioneering achievements

featured in this catalogue. Indeed, we have

always been that all-decisive bit ahead of our

    times

Despite this renewed innovative thrust as ex-

pressed in the unprecedented breadth and depth

of our product line , we have remained true to

one thing: legendary Swiss quality. Althought we

are serving international markets to an ever

greater degree, we are fully committed to this

    heritage.

Thus, we will continue to make that extra effort

which steps us apart, to respond more flexibly to

your special requests, and to more systematically

communicate what makes the refined elements of

the Jakob INOX LINE so exclusive: timelessness,

    functionality, and convenience in assembly.

Our motivated team of designers and engineers

as well as qualifed distributors in Europe and

overseas will make sure you remain in the focus

    of that commitment.

The purpose of end connectors is to enable thefixing of the wire rope. At the same time, the ele-ments with external (male) and internal (female)

threads fulfill an important additional function:they allow the rope to be tensioned and/

    or relaxed.

    = Make longer (relax)

    = Make shorter (tension)

    Secure

    Fig. 4

Cable assemblies should have a tensioningdevice at least at one end. if this is not possiblefor technical reasons, a turnbuckle(B/C) canbe inserted between the ends.

    Static end connectors

    Fig. 5

End connectors should alwaysbe locked to prevent inadvertentloosening. There are various waysto do this (with plain holes):

    Fig. 6

If you turn the entire rope assembly clockwise, thiswill tension the rope. Turning the assembly counter-clockwise relaxes it.

Clockwise rotation: this tightens thescrew elements and tensions the rope.

Anticlockwise rotation: this backs outthe screw elements and relaxes the rope.

    COMBINING LEFT- AND RIGHT-HAND THREADS

    OPTIMIZING SPAN LENGTHS

    Fig. 7

Individual wire ropes can be spanned across 30 m.The longer the span (L), the larger the intrinsic weight(Q ) of the rope. The pretensioning force (Fv) must beincreased to prevent sag but this requires stronger endposts.

The pretensioning forceof a wire rope with a diameterbetween 2 6mm is 0.1 to 1kN.

When it changes directions (1+2), the wirerope must be bent around a radius (r ) whichcorresponds to the wire rope diameter (d) multi-plied by 5 to 10. To maintain proper tensioning, the sum of all deflection angles per cable
